All camps are staffed and run by volunteers who freely donate their time and talents to provide a once in a lifetime experience for all participants.
Big Camp
Lord Somers Camp (for boys) and Lady Somers Camp (for girls) are conducted annually in January at the Somers campsite. These camps are commonly referred to as Big Camps. Each camp runs for one week catering for youth aged 16 to 18 years. Big camps focus on bringing together youth from varying backgrounds and challenging them to overcome barriers generated by society and stereotypes. Through big camp participants develop acceptance, tolerance, team work, self confidence, friendship, leadership skills and life skills.
Big camps are staffed and run by volunteers, with participants being selected through nomination by their school, community organisations and members. Some sponsorship is available for financially disadvantaged applicants
