What'll happen at empowerme?
empowerme is about exploring who you are, where you want to go & how you want to get there. Find out how to control your future.
But don't be fooled
It's not all serious adult stuff. It will be fun.
You will actually enjoy this unique experience and won't have any oldies there to check up on you.
Most of the leaders (facilitators) are under 25 years of age
Who can go to empowerme?
Anyone in year ten. No matter what 'type' you are. No matter what school you go to. But, there is a maximum of 120 students each day from schools around Melbourne and regional Victoria.
How do I enrol for empowerme?
Each school will only be able to nominate a limited number of students. So don't miss out....get in early and ask your teacher to nominate you. Ask for the application form.
What to bring
You will be sent the details after your application has been received, but remember this: No need to bring school books. Just bring yourself.
Who's behind empowerme?
Lord Somers Camp and Power House is a Victorian based youth services organisation which has been around for over 70 years. We run week-long camps at Somers every January, amongst other things.
We might have a lot of traditions, but our young people are our greatest asset and young people are involved in the management of everything we do.
A group of young facilitators has designed, improved and will run the emPOWERme program from the very beginning.
